Man found dead, nephew in custody

July 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:00 am IST - KASARAGOD:

The police on Saturday took into custody Ashokan, 19, on charge of murdering his uncle Sreedharan, 49, at Cherakkala here on Friday.

Sreedharan, residing at Kizhakkepuram, was found at his house with deep stab cuts on neck and abdomen inflicted by a coconut scraper on Friday evening, the police said. He was rushed to a hospital in Mangalore, but he died early on Saturday. It is suspected that the murder was the fallout of a property dispute in the family. There was allegedly disagreement between Sreedharan and Ashokan, who is the son of Sreedharan’s late brother Sanjiva, over the sharing of proceeds of a land sale, said M. Lakshmanan, SI.
