The MUDA foresees a great demand for sites in Nanjangud that is already a major industrial centre apart from being a centre for pilgrimage. Located about 24 km from the city, it has rail connectivity to Mysuru but it is the completion of the four-laning of NH-212 between Mysuru and Nanjangud which will make the latter more easily accessible.
Thousands of people commute between the two centres on a daily basis, including government officials, factory employees as also teachers and students and the real estate trends in the town was gaining traction in view of its emergence as a satellite of Mysuru. Located on the banks of the river Kapila, the town is famous for Srikanteshwara temple that draws a large number of pilgrims from all over the State and the KIADB is also poised to acquire land for industrial development.

MUDA chairperson Mohan Kumar said the final hearing pertaining to the Rabindranath Tagore Nagar layout in Mysuru is over and the court is expected to pronounce its judgment next month. He said the seniority list was already ready and would be released once the judgment was delivered. The legal imbroglio pertains to compensation of over 3.5 acres of land to a claimant.
R.T. Nagar was touted as MUDA’s model layout with wide roads, and 1,760 sites of different dimensions have been developed and are ready for distribution. Spread over 230 acres, it abuts the Outer Ring Road close to the University Layout in Mysore South West.
