Rotary Club provides aid to economiclly weak students

Educational aids were distributed to the economically weak students at the installation function of the Rotary Club of Vellore North here recently.

The aids included Rs.10,000 to D. Nandini of VIT, Rs.15,000 to Virudhula of the C. Abdul Hakeem College of Engineering and Technology, Melvisharam, Rs.12.500 to Arthi and Rs.15,000 to G. Prashanth, students of Venkateswara Polytechnic College, Rs.7000 to Harshavardhini of Vani Vidyalaya, uniforms worth Rs.9,000 to 15 girls of Kalvi Ulagam, plates, tumblers and mats worth Rs.5200 to the Special School for rescued child labourers, pressure cooker and uniforms worth Rs.800 to Anbu Ullangal, and notebooks worth Rs.2600 to the 11th and 12th standard students of Thirumuruga Kripananda Variar Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Kangeyanallur.

The club also dedicated the new bus shelter constructed by it at a cost of Rs.1.25 lakh near the Government Girls HSS, Katpadi.

Krishnan V. Chari, Past District Governor of Rotary District 3230 installed R. Raja Rajan as president of the Rotary Club of Vellore North for 2015-16.

First woman president of Rotary Club of Vellore

Thangamani Thirumaran was installed as the 68th president of the Rotary Club of Vellore at a function held here on Friday.

A.P. Kanna, Past District Governor of R.I. District 3230 installed the president and other office-bearers. Rajesh Jain was installed as secretary and P.R. Mahesh as treasurer of the club.Mrs. Thangamani Thirumaran, who was the first woman president of the club since its inception in 1948, said the club would focus on literacy activities during the coming year.
