K. Lasyapriya is all set to fly to Fukuoka in Japan to participate in the 27th Asian Pacific Children’s Convention (APCC 2015) to be held from July 9 to 22. A seventh standard student of Sri Chaitanya Techno School, Tirupati, she is one of the six participants representing the entire country and the lone candidate from the State shortlisted by the Junior Chamber International India.
The event, which started as an initiative by the Fukuoka Junior Chamber in 1989, is now supported by the Fukuoka Prefectural Government and the municipal government, besides many supporting organisations. Aimed at facilitating a cultural exchange between Japan and other countries, this fortnight-long event ensures that the junior ambassadors from the various countries in the Asian Pacific region exchange their ideas about the various nations and shed stereotyped opinion.
Lasyapriya is learning Bharatanatyam as well as Carnatic music. She is also adept in painting, a couple of which have appeared in The Hindu ‘Young World’. “I will note down the highlights of the various events and the information provided by the students from other countries,” says Ms. Lasyapriya. She also nurtures plans to prepare a travelogue on her return.
