Start-up contest held at Shakthi college

Entrepreneurs got to showcase their ideas and innovative business plans at ‘Ignite ’15 – Bring out the innovation in you’ event the Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology organised here on Saturday in association with Native lead Foundation, YI and Kovaitechstarts.

A release from the college said that 120 teams and 40 start-ups had registered and of those, 500 students with entrepreneurial spirit and a few mainstream start-ups participated in the event. The selected students/teams would get to present their ideas in the second round of the event, to be held on July 18. And those selected on the day would get to pitch their ideas for funding on July 25.

On Saturday, Mridula Ramesh, Executive Director, Sundaram Textiles, inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp in the presence of K. Swaminathan, CEO, Aspire Ventures, C.K. Kumaravel, CEO, Naturals Salon and Spa, R. Sivarajah, Founder and president, Nativelead Foundation, and Nagaraja Prakasam, a farmer and member of Growing Start-ups.
