MOHALI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) announced major organizational restructuring in its Punjab unit on Saturday. In order to build a "robust and extensive" organization in Punjab, the party has appointed 13 observers and coordinators at zonal level and formed several wings to deepen its presence.
"To raise issues effectively, we need a strong organization (in Punjab)," senior AAP leader and party state observer Sanjay Singh said while addressing media here.

Stating that party's format has been changed from district level to zonal level, Sanjay said 13 zones have been set up in the state.
"Nine Vidhan Sabha constituencies and one Lok Sabha constituency will be part of one zone each," he said, adding that there would be 13 zonal in-charges for the party. "The party has also formed several wings for youth, women, farmer, trade and transport, legal, intellectual, NRI, ex-servicemen and student," the AAP leader said.
The party has also appointed 13 zonal level and 39 sector-level coordinators from Delhi for monitoring the functioning of the organization in the state.
"The team from Delhi will also use their experience to strengthen the party in the state," Sanjay said.
However, he added, AAP Punjab convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur would continue to play his present role in the party. "There will be no change in the state executive. Our first job will be to appoint booth in-charges in first 2-3 months," Sanjay said.

Like in Delhi, the AAP will also start dialogue process with public in Punjab to find out their issues and problems that can be incorporated in the election manifesto. "Dialogue will be initiated with farmers, youth, women to know their problems," he said.
"At present everybody wants to get rid of the Badal government. Here police is being used against opponents by the party," Sanjay alleged adding that the state was facing major problems like drug abuse, farmers not getting remunerative prices, women security, unemployment. PTI
