Faridabad, July 4

The salary of government school teachers who failed to do duty as booth level officers (BLO) has been put on hold till further orders leading to resentment among them.

The Haryana Prathmik Sikshak Sangh has decided to launch an indefinite sit- in outside the district headquarters soon if the authorities failed to disburse the salary.

Chatar Singh, district president of the association, said that they condemned the move since teachers were not expected to do it and it was not in their job profile. It is sheer victimisation and harassment of government teachers and a violation of the Right to Education Act (RTE).

We have been opposing such duties since it adversely impacted on the studies of thousands of students in government schools. ‘’The state had appointed them to educate children and not work as BLO’s, he added.

The teachers would stage a dharna on July 8 at the mini- secretariat. The district has around 385 primary schools at present.
