MUMBAI: The economic offences wing (EOW) of Mumbai police on Saturday questioned one of the three directors of a construction firm in an alleged cheating and forgery case. Unit 2 of EOW on Saturday picked up Nancy Silva, who is the one of the directors in the construction firm accused of cheating. She has been summoned again.
Joint commissioner of police (EOW) Dhananjay Kamlakar confirmed the detention.
“We have detained one woman suspect in the case and we are questioning her regarding the complaint,” said Kamlakar.
Sources said the woman was likely to be arrested and will be produced in court on Sunday. Police are also likely to arrest two other directors in this case.
In 2014, a 43-year-old businessman, Om Prakash Chendnani, had lodged a complaint with Khar police alleging that he had been duped by the construction firm. Chendnani said the developer had promised him a flat in Sun Shine building at Ramkrishna Nagar in Khar when he did his booking in 2007. Chendnani’s lawyer Mahesh Kukreja said, “The developer produced forged work commencement certificates (CC) and took Rs 92 lakh from my client; the flat was worth Rs 1 crore. During further investigation from the registration office and other sources, it transpired that the developer had similarly double sold few other flats too.”
