Street Trend: David Niblock, Chartered Physiotherapist

What are you wearing?

I’m wearing a jacket from the Cork Vintage Quarter (€95), Zara shirt (€35), AKIRA Men jeans (€69), Nordstrom boots (€175) and a dickie bow I made myself (€9 for the materials).

Describe your style in three words?

Original, eclectic, hipster.

How long does it take you to get dressed in the morning?

On a work day it’s an Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapist’s tracksuit and only takes two minutes. On a weekend or day off, it takes me 15 minutes tops to shower and pick an outfit.

Fashion or function — which word best describes your attitude to clothes and why?

Fashion. It’s a cliché but if you look good you’ll feel good and it shows you’ve put time and respect into yourself.

What’s your biggest source of style inspiration?

London fashion — Camden and Shoreditch in particular. There’s great style in Chicago too. I’d have to tip my cap to Paul Galvin for motivating guys to step outside the box. My dad also always has a class idea or piece of clothing for an outfit.

Where do you like to shop?

I tend to shop abroad a lot mainly Akira Men in Chicago or Bolangaro Trevor in London but I also like to shop locally when I can and, now and again, from stores like H&M and Topman.

What do you think of Irish street style?

It’s definitely improving. Guys are getting inspired by new looks and are starting to realise that there’s a unique style for them.

Why does your style/outfit work?

It’s comfortable and shows some personality while not taking itself too seriously.
