Jamaicans held in Antigua and Barbuda drug seizure released

The two Jamaicans and the Vincentian who were held earlier this week in Antigua and Barbuda in connection with a major drug seizure have been released.

Following 48 hours in custody, the three were released on Thursday after being questioned in relation to the seizure of  more than EC$4 million worth of  drugs.       

According to the Antigua Observer newspaper, although the men were released, the probe will continue. 

It's reported that in the  early morning hours of  June 30, the police found more than 230 pounds of  marijuana valued at EC$2.3 million  and 49 kilograms of  cocaine worth over $1.7 million in a house. 

The drugs, which were packed in crocus bags, were confiscated, while two of  the three men who were allegedly at the premises were detained.    

The third man was picked up elsewhere.
