Jagadeesh on song
After singing in light music programmes for a decade, B. Jagadeesh honed his skills studying opera and Carnatic music at K. M. Music Conservatory. “Whenever I sing covers on stage, I always add my touches to them. It is probably this that convinced music director C. Satya to select my rendition of ‘Sillata Pillata’ over other versions for Raghava Lawrence’s Kanchana-2 ,” says Jagadeesh, who is currently studying Music Theory (Grade 8) in Royal School of Music, Chennai. Jagadish, who has just been conferred the Studio One Star Icon award for best debut singer, is currently working with several composers including Siddarth Vipin and Harris Jeyaraj. He is also part of A.R. Rahman’s regular track and harmony group.
Guinness record?
After successfully distributing director Shankar’s I in Kerala, Global United Media has again stepped into God’s own country with both the Malayalam and Tamil dubbed versions of Baahubali. Says Prem Kumar Menon, MD, GUM: “Our marketing and promotional methods are slightly different from traditional distribution companies. We tasted success with I and have done something more unique for Bahubali. We created, what we believe is, the world’s largest poster for Baahubali and, despite the inclement Kerala weather, we displayed it in Kochi in an endeavour to beat the existing Guinness record of 50,687.25 sq. ft. with our poster measuring 51,961.32 sq. ft. We have applied to Guinness with this feat.” Baahubali releases on July 10.
Two films at a time
Model and actor Nikesha Patel has gone back to London after completing two Tamil films, both of which are getting ready for release. “In Karaioram , which is a heroine-centric film, I play a sprightly girl who gets affected by some supernatural happenings in her life. It is not a horror film, but thrilling, nevertheless. The hero Vasishta has a slightly negative role and plays my love interest, while Iniya plays my best friend. Incidentally, Simran appears in a cameo which is crucial to the climax. In Narathan , I play a college student with memory loss. Nakul is paired with me,” says Nikesha, who is expected to be back in Chennai by mid-July when she hopes to finalise a couple of projects.
