RANCHI: Former chief minister Babulal Marandi has sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention to put things in order at Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi. The institute does not have a permanent director and its chief administrative officer’s name has appeared in connection with the 2013 chopper scam.
The Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) chief, in a letter to Modi sent on July 1, said, “The post of chief administrative officer at the premier institute is occupied by Brigadier V S Saini, who was involved in the AgustaWestland scam, and a CBI probe is pending against him.
Acting director Anindo Sen has not initiated any action against it.”
Marandi blamed Sen for terminating seven local employees and demanded their reinstatement. He has attached the memorandum that the former employees gave him to the letter sent to PM, a copy of which is with TOI.
Quoting media reports about the ill-treatment of women staff by former chief administrative officer Col B K Nair, Marandi demanded investigation into such misconduct and asked for a regular director. He also demanded cancellation of Saini’s appointment.
IIM Ranchi, which draws students from different parts of the country, was established in 2010. It functions from a temporary campus in the state capital’s Suchna Bhawan. Marandi has claimed that top officials at the institute do not treat local staff well.
