Vodafone Tebara carnival queen contestants have started visits to areas near Nausori,starting with community posts in the area.

They are doing this to meet members of the community, community post staff and to know about the issues in their community

The queen contestants visited Sawani community police post yesterday.

Vodafone Tebara Carnival co-ordinator Sherine Lata said: “The Tebara Carnival has been revived after 12 years and queen contestants are advocating on issues in their own community post.

“The main motive of the festival is to create awareness and build a resilient community,” she said.

Tebara carnival queen contestant Miss Sawani Torika Korocawiri said: “I come to visit my community so that I can mingle with the people and with their help we can help each other during carnival week.

“I want to advocate and create awareness on truancy, which is a rising issue in my community and I want to help each and every youth of our community,” she said.

The Vodafone Tebara Carnival will be held at the Syria Park in Nausori from July 25 to August 2.
