The week gone by was a mixed bag. The world saw some fatal accidents: An Indonesian military aircraft crashed into neighbourhood soon after take off killing 141; a fire at a music party in Taiwan left about 500 dead and landslides triggered by heavy rainfall killed a few and trapped many under debris across Darjeeling.
On the brighter side, Pilot Andre Borschberg drove Solar Impulse 2, the solar-powered plane, 97 hours non-stop to break a record; BP agreed to a settlement in the 2010 Gulf oil spill disaster and the world rejoiced at having an extra second on June 30.
