Karthik Rajendran, the youth who was seen as being slapped by Stalin, said he was asked to leave the place by the DMK leader after he inadvertently stepped on a woman standing in the Metro Rail coach.

“As there was a heavy crowd, I surged towards Stalin uncle and in the process I stepped on a woman. He slapped my shoulder gently and asked me to leave the place. Since we were standing very close to each other, his hand touched my face,” said Mr Karthik, who belongs to a family of a DMK member, told  The Hindu .

Mr. Karthik, a visual communications student, is not a DMK member and was travelling by Chennai Metro coach for fun. “I was not part of the DMK crowd that welcomed Mr. Stalin.

After the video became viral on the social media, I remained at home, as there was a suggestion that I was drunk and was slapped by Mr. Stalin,” said the youth.
