SIT starts collecting fresh statements
Alappuzha: The special investigation team probing the suicide pact of four women athletes at SAI centre here, in which one of them lost her life, has started collecting fresh statements from parents and athletes on special instruction from the director general of police.
The move followed allegations from the survivors' parents and the SAI action council that the investigation team was trying to sabotage the investigation.

Action council chairman Anil Bose said the parents of athletes had been asked to present themselves at the DSP office for taking fresh statements. The parents had, under the aegis of the council, met the chief minister, the home minister and the DGP demanding a thorough investigation.
"We still don't have any faith in the SIT as the investigators have already given a clean chit to the seniors who were accused of harassment and ragging," he said.
Anil also said authorities had received an order from the SAI director general the other day, allowing the three athletes who were part of the suicide pact to continue their education at the Punnamada centre.
