VRAs seek revival of shift system

July 04, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:53 am IST - NIZAMABAD:

Village Revenue Assistants under the aegis of their association affiliated to the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) staged dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Friday, demanding the continuation of shift system in their duties.

In a press release, the CITU district secretary, A. Ramesh Babu said that with the decision to suspend the shift system introduced in 1986 by the government for the VRAs particularly in Kamareddi division they were jittery and even a couple of them committed suicide fearing the losing of their jobs.

Therefore the present government needs to continue the shift system for them to protect their employment, he said.

Later they submitted a memorandum to the authorities.
