‘Change investigation style’

July 04, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - COIMBATORE:

To prevent recurrence of violence that rocked Ambur, there has to be a change in style of police investigation, said M.H. Jawahirullah, Member, convenor, Manithaneya Makkal Katchi and Member of Legislative Assembly, in Coimbatore on Friday.

Addressing a press meet, he said that the reason for the violence , which was unjustifiable, was that the police there had picked up suspect Shameel Ahamad for questioning and detained him “illegally” for five days. He died shortly thereafter due to the “torture in the illegal custody”. Therefore, there should be a change in the style of investigation by the police. - Staff Reporter
