Ashok Pamidi, regional head, NASSCOM, said the Indian IT industry is the second largest in the world in emerging skills and the fourth largest in start-ups.

He was speaking on ‘Talent landscape’ at the inauguration of internship for the candidates of the monsoon batch at RiiiT, an IT finishing school, here on Friday.

Mr. Pamidi said opportunities are abundant for young engineering graduates in emerging technologies in IT and ITeS segments.

“Being the youngest and intelligent workforce in the world, you must capitalise on the opportunities in investment banking, SMAC (social media, mobility, analytics and cloud), R&D, and start-ups,” he suggested.

Former ambassador Siddharthachary inaugurated the internship programme and advised the candidates to be disciplined, hardworking and committed.

The former Minister S.A. Ramdas advised the interns to address unemployment by becoming entrepreneurs.

Over 400 fresh engineering graduates from 51 engineering colleges across south India, selected through entrance test and counselling, will undergo finishing-school internship in Technologies: DotNet, J2EE, Testing and Infrastructure Management Services, the release said.
