Vij orders suspension of SHO, later retracts his decision
KURUKSHETRA: Haryana cabinet minister Anil Vij got into a dilemma after he ordered suspension of a station house officer (SHO) for allegedly dillydallying in dealing with complaints of people. However, he regretted his decision later on after learning that the SHO was not responsible for alleged negligence and exempted the cop from facing action.
Raghubir Singh, a resident of Kakrala Gujral village near Pehowa town, complained to minister Vij that he had approached cops six months ago complaining that a person impersonating a policeman was cheating drivers of heavy vehicles but no action was taken.
"An FIR was lodged four months after the complaint and no action was taken even after six months," Raghubir said. Hearing the complaint, the minister suspended Pehowa SHO Aman Kumar stating that strict action would be taken against him if he was found guilty of negligence during investigation. Later, Vij was told by Kurukshetra superintendent of police Simardeep Singh that Aman had joined as the SHO of Pehowa just a month ago and was not responsible for delay in action into the complaint of Raghubirk, which was lodged much before that.
After that, Vij said, "I have reviewed my order after I got to know the facts. Now action will be taken against the SHO who was heading the police station when the complaint was filed."
