AMRITSAR: Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Friday termed Capt Amarinder Singh's ongoing mass contact programme as desperate bid to find credibility in his own party.
Talking to media persons here during sangat darshan programme, Badal said, "What Amarinder has been doing for the last two days is nothing short of theatrical performance aimed at befooling people by targeting Punjab Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa and opposing SAD-BJP alliance." He alleged that Amarinder was trying his best to tarnish SAD's image.

Justifying the transfer of former Sikh militants from the jails of other states to Punjab, Badal said, "On the contrary, the Rashtriya Sikh Sangat has even approached the Union home ministry for release of all Sikh prisoners lodged in different jails of the country on humanitarian grounds."
He also welcomed the recent decision of Rajasthan high court directing the Rajasthan government to ban the open sale of poppy husk and opium in their state. "This historic decision will be a major respite for our state as the majority of these narcotics were freely flown into Punjab from Rajasthan," he said.
