BHIWANI: Head Constable Manjeet Sahu and Vedpal Singh of Bhiwani district have each won the gold medal in wrestling in the ongoing World Police Games being conducted at Virginia, USA.

Head Constable Manjeet Sahu and Vedpal Singh of Bhiwani district have each won the gold medal in wrestling in the ongoing World Police Games being conducted at Virginia, USA.

Manjeet hails from Ranila village, while Vedpal comes from Tikan Kalan near Charkhi-Dadri town of the district.

Celebrating the feat by district wrestlers, villagers said Manjeet beat American wrestler to win the gold in the 86-kg weight category, while Vedpal too won by beating American wrestler in a freestyle wrestling event.

“Manjeet will reach home on July 7 and we have started preparations to give him a rousing welcome,” said a resident of Ranila village. Manjeet has also been selected for the upcoming Common Wealth Games scheduled to be held in Canada.

Family members of Vedpal Singh told mediapersons that people started flooding their home since morning to congratulate them for their son’s achievement.
