Durban - Sun, sea, tanned surfers, and windswept blondes in their denim booty shorts. That is the glorious scene you will become a part of when walking down the paved pathway to Willard’s Beach for the 2015 Ballito Pro surfing competition and lifestyle festival.
When first arriving at the annual festival, I would never have said that the city of Durban had already entered its so-called ‘winter’ season, as the theme of the day was most certainly ‘sun’s out, guns out’. Clad in dark sun glasses, lose-fitted vests and Billabong baggies, spectators bouncing back and forth between the festival stores and the pro surfing soaked up the good music, festival entertainment, and of course the sight of some of the best wave riding from South African, Australian and Brazilian surfers.
Known as the world’s longest-running professional surfing competition, the event will be running from 28 June to 5 July.
