Release of water floods rivers

BAHRAICH: The release of water into Ghaghra, Saryu and Sharda rivers from the barrages continues due to the heavy rain on the mountains. Over 1 lakh cusecs of water was released on Thursday morning.
Officials said that around 2,578 cusecs of water was released into Saryu from Gopia barrage and 18,110 cusecs of water was released into Sharda from Sharda barrage while 83,485 cusecs of water was released into Ghaghra from Girija barrage.
The villagers of villages situated on the banks of the river are migrating to safer places.
The district magistrate reviewed the preparations and ordered to hold the salary of executive engineer and assistant engineer after finding that comprehensive action plan was not prepared by them. The repair work of embankment was also found unsatisfactory.
