CBI arrests Northen Railway engineer for bribery

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested Naveen Kumar Goyal, senior section engineer of the Northern Railway, Kaithal in Haryana for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from the complainant.

PUNE: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday arrested Naveen Kumar Goyal, senior section engineer of the Northern Railway, Kaithal in Haryana for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 40,000 from the complainant.
The CBI has registered a complaint against Goyal under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on a complaint alleging that the com-plainant (name with held) was awarded a railway contract for renewal of turn-outs of Narwana-Kurukshetra railway line.

The complaiant has alleged that the accused was allegedly demanding a bribe at the rate of 5 percent of the complainant’s bill for releasing the payment.
CBI officials on verifying the demand laid a trap where in the Kumar was allegedly caught red handed, while demanding and accepting Rs 40,000 as first installment of bribe from the complainant in the presence of the panch witnesses.
The officials conducted searches at the residence of the accused, but the outcome of the searches is not known.
Goyal was presented before the designated court at Panchkula. He was later remanded in judicial custody.
