Three days after the 8-year-old girl went missing from Navi Mumbai, the police found her body after the arrest of her uncle. Franshela Sophia Vaz, the class III student had been allegedly murdered and abducted by her uncle Clarence (husband of her maternal aunt). He had dumped the body at Mira Road near Mumbai.

The police suspected the role of Clarence as eye-witnesses who had last sighted Franshela had seen her go in red car after she alighted from the school bus on Monday. Based on the information from the family members, the police were certain Franshela would not talk to strangers, thus if she had gone with somebody it has to be someone familiar to her.

After verifying Clarence's mobile location, the police interrogated him on Thursday evening. He broke down during interrogation and revealed that he had murdered her after abduction and dumped her body at Mira Road. The body was recovered on Friday morning. Though Clarence claimed that he had strangulated her, the body had several injury marks. Clarence apparently had dispute with Franshela's father who was away in Netherlands and committed the crime to inflict irreparable damage on his adversary.

Usually, Franshela's mother comes to drop and pick her from the school bus stop. However, the mother had recently undergone a surgery and was advised bed rest. It was 6.30 pm when she realised that her daughter had not turned up.
