Run-up to Pushkaralu

Basar gets water from Babli project

July 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - ADILABAD:

Residents of Basar had much to cheer on Thursday when water from Babli project in Maharashtra flowed into the bathing ghats on Godavari. The prospects of a good devotee turnout for the ensuing Godavari Pushkaralu has brightened due to the development. Water was released from Babli barrage located in Dharmabad taluk of Nanded district since 11 a.m. the previous day. The flow reached Basar sometime in the night and water could be seen touching the lowest steps of the bathing ghats. Devotees can now have a holy dip in the river though the depth is not adequate to have a proper bath. About 0.28 tmcft of water was released from Babli.
