The Digital India Week e-governance programme organised by the Pudhu Vaazhvu project was launched at a function held at Masinaickenpatty, near here, on Thursday.
The programme will cover the 146 Village Knowledge Centres (VKCs) functioning in the Pudhu Vaazhvu blocks of Ayothiyapatinam, Pedanaickenpalayam, Thalaivasal, Vazhapadi, Gangavalli and Yercaud till July 8.
D. Dharani, District Project Manager, Pudhu Vaazhvu, inaugurated the programme and emphasised the need for adopting e-governance in all villages, which is key to transparency in governance.
Digital India Programme will revolutionise the concept of e-governance and ensure fast delivery of services to citizens, she said.
N.B. Manikandan, Assistant Project Manger, Pudhu Vaazhvu, said that e-governance will go a long way in ensuring transparency at all levels.
The project aimed at bringing more additional services viz booking of train, bus and flight tickets and paying power bill, LIC premium and mobile recharge bill, applying for PAN card and Aaadhar card etc and bring the same to the door-step of every citizen.
The chief guest Rajkumar, Deputy Collector, Suriya, e-governance district manager, said that Digital India week aimed at transformation of the country into a digitally empowered knowledge economy.
Different new schemes in e-governance portal will be launched soon and explained in detail the salient features of the portal.
They also cleared the technical doubts raised by the VKCs’ book keepers who attended the meeting.
