Heavyweight banger Luis "King Kong" Ortiz will headline a Golden Boy tripleheader on HBO Latino on Aug. 8 at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California.

Ortiz (22-0, 19 KOs), 36, a Cuban defector with very heavy hands, does not yet have an opponent. He is coming off a first-round destruction of journeyman Byron Polley on June 20 on the David Lemieux-Hassan N'Dam undercard in Montreal. That was Ortiz's first bout since last September, when he crushed Lateef Kayode in the first round to win an interim title but tested positive for a steroid after the fight. He was stripped of the belt and the Nevada State Athletic Commission changed the win to a no decision, suspended him for eight months and fined him $8,000 (10 percent of his $80,000 purse).

Bantamweight titlist Randy Caballero (22-0, 13 KOs) was originally scheduled to headline the card, which is taking place in his hometown, but he is out because his foot, which he had surgery on, is not yet healed, according to HBO. Caballero did not yet have an opponent.

The co-feature will pit welterweights Johan Perez (20-2-1, 13 KOs), a former interim junior welterweight titlist from Venezuela, who has won six fights in a row, and the Main Events-promoted Dmitry Mikhaylenko (19-0, 8 KOs) of Russia.

The third fight is not yet set. Welterweight Alfonso Gomez (25-6-2, 12 KOs) was initially scheduled to be in a televised bout, but HBO said he no longer will be.
