School bus mows down three-year-old girl

JAIPUR: A three-year-old girl died after she was mowed down by a school bus outside her home in Kardhani's Shiv Nagar area. The girl was with her mother who was waiting for her elder daughter to reach home in the bus after the school hours. After her sister got off, the bus hit the child standing on the roadside. She was rushed to a hospital where she died while undergoing treatment late on Wednesday.
According to police, the girl, identified as Vanshika Sain, was a resident of Harnathpura in Kardhani's Shiv Nagar A. The mishap occurred around 2 pm on Wednesday.
"Vanshika's elder sister studies at Mothers Teresa School. A school bus drops her home after the school hours. On Wednesday, their mother Seema was waiting near her home for the school bus to arrive and drop her elder daughter when the mishap occurred," said a police officer.
The officer said Vanshika was also with her mother. "When the school bus was leaving after dropping the elder sister, it hit Vanshika. She was badly injured," said the officer. The shocked mother informed her husband and neighbours who rushed her to SMS Hospital. A police team also arrived at the spot. The police arrested the driver for rash and negligent driving.
"The girl had sustained serious head injuries. She died while undergoing treatment," said the officer.
On Wednesday, a 7-year-old girl Khushi who had set out for school had been killed by a rashly-driven car near Jawahar Nagar area. Police have seized the vehicle and arrested the accused for negligent driving. After the accident, a huge number of people had gathered at the spot and demonstrated.
