Ireland’s Tom Foley scored an impressive win at the three-star show in Tryon in the United States last night, while Cian O’Connor recorded a success at Arnhem’s three-star show in the Netherlands.

Foley, riding the mare Beluga, was the only one of 39 starters to break the 60-second barrier on the clock, coming home in 59.56.

Cian O’Connor and the mare Quidam’s Cherie were fastest in a huge field of over 90 starters at the three-star Netherlands show in Arnhem, while Captain Michael Kelly and Ringwood Glen took sixth place.

Meanwhile, other Irish riders on the far side of the Atlantic also enjoyed good results last night as Conor Swail took second place at Spruce Meadows in Canada on Viva Colombia in the five-star speed competition behind Chile’s Samuel Parot and Couscous van Orti. Shane Sweetnam and Easy Contact Humlan claimed third.
