CASUAL COOL

London-born Sophie Choudry admits that no day is the same for her. Whether she’s filming for a TV show or performing at one of her live stage shows, her nine-to-five is far from routine. The only sure thing is that she’s always in the limelight. Fortunately, she’s got a wardrobe that will keep up with all that attention. Take her first look of the day, “Something I would wear for a meeting or to a dubbing studio." Here she opts for a peplum-waist top by designer Robert Rodriguez, jeans from Rag & Bone and sparkly stilettos by Christian Louboutin.

“I’m not a tomboy, I like being feminine and I’m always true to that. Similarly, her style icons include women who are equally unabashed about their femininity, Jennifer Lopez and Beyoncé, while she was named after the ultimate diva, Sophia Loren. “I love women who celebrate being women. They are strong, beautiful, can sing, dance and act; it’s the complete package and that’s what I would like to be.

Sophie's mum introduced her to fashion at an early age. "I had my first Charles Jourdin shoes when I was five my first Gucci bag when I was about nine. For the family, Saturdays meant a trip to Harvey Nicholas for shopping and then lunch," she says. But Sophie's no blind follower of labels and instead favours a mix of high street and high end. Her list of favorite brands reflects that she loves Parison labels Sandro and Maje as well as Stella Mc Cartney for their understated style. She's also got Top Shop and BCBG Maz Azria on her top ten and is currently in love with Mumbai-based label Madison whose floral skirt and top she chooses for her second look. "This would be perfect for an afternoon press meeting or even brunch. I could just wrap a scarf around my head and feel like Audrey Hepburn," she says.

For Indianwear, Manish Malhotra is a clean winner. Scroll through her Instagram feed and you will see that at a recent lavish wedding she wore the designer for all three days of ceremonies. "Manish and I have an amazing relationship and I trust him completely," she reveals.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Page 3 and the style blogs are filled with people dissecting Sophie's look - whether on the red carpet or the airport. Fortunately, her wardrobe is well equipped for all the attention. For travelling she favours jackets or shirts to layer with jeans. On the red carpet you'll often spot her in sultry Monisha Jaising gowns like the electric blue one she sports here on or Rohit Gandhi or Rahul Khanna or Pankaj and Nidhi minis. My style is essentially chic and glamourous but I think over time I've become a little softer and more feminine. On a night when she's feeling stumped for choice, her safe options are always a fitted red or a blue dress. "Red always makes a statement but blue is my absolute favorite colour," she confesses. Side swept hair, a pop lip and a pair of nude heels finish her look.
