Directed by Sunil Shanbag, Blank Page is a performance of 17 poems in four languages—English, Hindi, Marathi and Kashmiri. The spoken word is celebrated through music, dance and theatre. It will explore themes such as conflicted relationships, political resistance and the intense act of writing itself. 55 minutes.

Chinese Coffee
4-5 July
Watch Hoshruba Repertory’s Chinese Coffee, a one-act “dark, claustrophobic comedy" about friendship and its loss. Harry and Yaqub are friends and failed artistes. Harry, an obscure novelist, has written his third novel. He gives the manuscript to Yaqub, a photographer, for feedback. One evening, Harry pays Yaqub a visit—he wants to know what Yaqub thinks of the work as well as recover an old debt. 1 hour, 20 minutes.

Ciclo De Cine Mexicano (Mexican Film Series)

The Mexican embassy in India, in association with the India Habitat Centre, will screen 10 Mexican movies. Among the films are Luis Mandoki’s Voces Inocentes and Gustavo Loza’s Al Otro Lado. Voces Inocentes is the story of a boy trying to have a normal childhood in 1980s’ El Salvador. Al Otro Lado features three stories about the bond between children and absent parents.

The Playhouse

This three-part workshop by Tadpole Repertory, a collective of theatre practitioners, aims to bring young writers, actors and directors together, to collaborate and create new work.
Part I, The Writers’ Room, a workshop on developing dramatic text, is on from 3-17 July. Part II, The Act, from 13 July-1 August, will help participants sharpen their awareness of space and the other actors on stage. Part III, The Lab, from 13 July-1 August, is on directing actors. The Playhouse will culminate in a sharing of the new work through a weekend of performances for the public.
