Members of Karnataka Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday gave the Lokayukta Y. Bhaskar Rao an ultimatum to resign from the office by Friday on moral grounds and uphold the dignity of the institution in the wake of the alleged corruption scandal that broke out recently in the office of the Lokayukta.
The party has threatened to lay siege at the Lokayukta’s residence on Saturday, if he did not tender his resignation.
Speaking to presspersons here, party spokesperson, Ravi Krishna Reddy said that the party submitted a memorandum to the Governor Vajubhai Rudibhai Vala on Wednesday seeking Lokayukta’s resignation and immediately refer the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
He also expressed surprise over the ruling party members meeting the Joint Commissioner of Lokayukta Syed Riyaz Ahmed, even after the corruption case broke out.
“We will not sit down quietly till Lokayukta resigns,” Mr. Reddy said.
AAP-Karnataka Convenor Siddharth Sharma urged all the members of Karnataka Legislative Assembly to use the Karnataka Lokayukta Act Column 6 to impeach Lokayukta.
