Mandya farmer ends life

Yet another farmer suicide was reported in Mandya.

38-year-old B. Pradeep of Doddatharahalli in K.R. Pet taluk, who allegedly attempted suicide by consuming poison at a farmland in Nagarabindenahalli on Wednesday night, died in a hospital in Hassan district on Thursday, Kikkeri police said.

According to the police, Mr. Pradeep’s wife Thayamma, after some villagers alerted, shifted him to the Government Hospital in Channarayapatna late on Wednesday.

The debt-ridden farmer died in the early hours on Thursday. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the reason for his suicide. He had availed loans from villagers and a cooperative bank, police said.

Ms. Thayamma has filed a complaint of unnatural death with the police.
