Kallyasseri village is in mourning following the death of former technocrat and industrialist K.P.P. Nambiar, 86. Preparations are on for the cremation of the body on the premises of his residence here on Thursday.

The village that carries the legacy of the founder Chairman and Managing Director of the Keltron group of companies is waiting to receive the mortal remains of one of its illustrious sons. The body was expected to reach Kallyasseri late on Wednesday and the cremation would take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday. People from all walks of life are expected to pay their last respects to the architect of electronics industry in the State, who had pioneered the first the public sector electronics manufacturing initiative in the country by setting up the Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation (KSEDC), popularly known as Keltron.

Kallyasseri had always been close to Nambiar’s heart and the manufacturing unit of Keltron at Mangattuparamba, near Kallyasseri, stands testimony to his attachment to his native village. Nambiar hailed from the family of the late former Chief Minister E.K. Nayanar and K.P.R. Gopalan.
