Inflow on the rise at Mettur

July 02, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - SALEM:

Inflow at the Stanley Reservoir at Mettur increased from 7,511 cusecs at 8 a.m. to 25,000 cusecs at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

However, Public Works Department officials said the copious inflow was due to the water released from dams in Karnataka two days ago reaching the reservoir on Wednesday.

The inflow started to reduce in the evening, they said, adding that the inflow would further recede in the coming days as only 10,000 cusecs of water was being released from dams in Karnataka.

At 8 a.m. on Wednesday, the level stood at 80.75 feet against its full reservoir level of 120 feet while the storage was 42.406 tmcft against the capacity of 93.470 tmcft. The outflow was 500 cusecs.
