The Townsville Hospital in north Queensland says it has not been asked to consider setting up a detox centre for drug addicts.
A local 'ice' taskforce said ice addicts desperately needed somewhere to go to to detox but there was no such facility in Townsville.
The Member for Thuringowa, Aaron Harper, said he had spoken to the State Government about the potential for a detox centre.
The Townsville Hospital said it provided several services such as counselling and a needle and syringe program but had not considered a detox facility.
