Special discount sale at Khadi

The Puducherry Khadi and Village Industries Board will be holding a special discount sale of Khadi products for 108 days from June 29.

Addressing a joint press conference, Chief Executive Officer K. Arumugam and Chairman of Puducherry Khadi and Village Industries Board M. Rajesh said the Board had set a target of Rs. 351 lakh this year with discounts ranging from 20 to 40 per cent at all the Khadi outlets in the Union Territory.

Last year the target was fixed at Rs. 250 lakh but the Board collected Rs. 103 lakh.

A discount of 20 per cent will be offered for silk saris, 40 per cent for khadi and 15 per cent for products made by the Khadi and Village Industries Board.

Home furnishings including steel and wooden furniture, bathing soaps and agarbathis will also be sold at all the outlets.

Mr. Arumugam said that the Board has planned to produce readymade garments. The Board has also asked all government departments to place work orders.
