The family of a teenager killed in a flat fire have described him as a "ball of sunshine".

Edward Green, 17, died from the effects of smoke inhalation in the blaze in Langley Mill, Derbyshire on 21 June.

His friend Amy Smith, 17, and her six-month-old daughter Ruby-Grace Gaunt were also killed.

Three men, a father and two sons, have been charged with their murder and are due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court later this month.

In a statement, Edward's parents Wayne and Amanda Green, from Belper, said their son's life had been "devastatingly cut short in circumstances we still cannot comprehend".

They said he had a "huge zest for life and welcomed every challenge with determination and enthusiasm".

"He was a warm, compassionate boy whose infectious personality has left an impression on all of those who were fortunate enough to meet him," they said.

"Edward was a ball of sunshine whose smile shone each and every day and he will be missed by so many people."

Edward, who had two brothers and a sister, was a member of Scouts and belonged to various sports organisations.

Mr and Mrs Green thanked members of the public who tried to rescue people from the block of flats on the night of the fire and the Belper community.for their support.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
