3 arrested for attacking cop

A sub-inspector attached to Kalasipalya traffic police station was allegedly manhandled by three youths while he was checking drunk driving on Tuesday night.

Sub-Inspector Anand was on duty with two others near Basanna Circle at Kalasipalya. The police said that Sachin (26), employee of a private company, and students Ritin (22) and Sachin (21), who were inebriated, were walking home when they passed lewd comments about policemen checking vehicles. The police allege that they slapped Anand and tried to flee with the breathanalyser. The police filed a complaint. The trio were booked under Section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the IPC and remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.
