Kanchi junior seer Sankara Vijayendra Saraswati Swamy stressed on the need to keep the river Godavari clean. Taking a cue from National Mission for Ganga clean by the Modi government, the State government should take necessary measures to make Godavari a clean river. Godavari is one of the ancient rivers and has a special mention even in Ramayana. Lord Rama describes the river and its environs in Aranya Khanda of Valmiki Ramayana. It was our duty to handover the clean rivers to posterity. The rivers are lifeline of people. The initiative should start with this Pushkaralu, he said.
