Former PCC president D Srinivas set to join TRS

Srinivas had been sulking since he was denied an MLC ticket by the Congress high command
Hyderabad: Former PCC president D. Srinivas has decided to join TRS. After Botsa Satyanarayana, Mr Srinivas will be the second former PCC chief to quit the party. Mr Satyanarayana joined the YSRC.
Mr Srinivas met Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday at the latter’s camp office and expressed his desire to join the party. Mr Rao reportedly welcomed him to the TRS and assured a befitting place in the party.
While a source said that Mr Srinivas would join the party in three or four days, he may wear the pink khandva on July 6, when the CM has plans of touring Nizamabad.
“He is joining TRS. He will send a letter to AICC chief Sonia Gandhi explaining the reasons for quitting,” a close confidant of Mr Srinivas told DC. Mr Srinivas had been sulking since he was denied an MLC ticket by the Congress high command. Ms Akula Lalitha, who also hails from Nizamabad, got the ticket instead.
Mr Srinivas has held several key positions including MLA, minister and was PCC president twice. Sources said Mr Srinivas might be given an MLC ticket or might have to wait for a RS berth. He may also get a Cabinet post.
Meanwhile, Telangana PCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy rushed to the Mr Sirnivas’s Banjara Hills residence along with MP V. Hanumantha Rao, Mr Bhatti Vikramarka, Ms D.K. Aruna and others. However, by then, Mr Srinivas was already in the CM’s camp office.
