The Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) has decided to lease out 12 rest houses on the PPP mode.

KMVN chairperson Kiran Mandal, while addressing mediapersons after a board meeting at Sukhataal in Nainital today, said these rest houses were running in losses for several years. “The profit-giving rest houses will be equipped with more facilities while those running in losses will be leased out on the PPP mode,” said Mandal.

Mandal said the KMVN would start trekking tours to Khalia Bugyal in Pithoragarh on the lines of Dayara Bugyal in the Garhwal region from next year.

Kiran Mandal said they would form extension points across the region to ensure the supply of LPG to its consumers.

“We are holding talks with the Tourism Department to get land for the purpose. The cost of construction works will be borne out of MPLAD funds,” he added.
