Man duped of Rs1.5 lakh

Pranay Nanda, 28, a resident of Hudco Colony, Jaripatka, was allegedly duped of Rs1.5 lakh by Shekar Poddar, 31, a resident of Hudco Colony, under the pretext of providing an electronics machine for payment of electricity bills.

NAGPUR: Pranay Nanda, 28, a resident of Hudco Colony, Jaripatka, was allegedly duped of Rs1.5 lakh by Shekar Poddar, 31, a resident of Hudco Colony, under the pretext of providing an electronics machine for payment of electricity bills.
Jaripatka police has booked Poddar. Nanda told police that Poddar took the amount in instalments since 2012. Nanda claimed that Poddar has started avoiding his call
Youth, woman end life in separate incidents
Anita Salame, 45, committed suicide by setting herself ablaze at her Rathi Layout, Wadi residence on Wednesday morning.
Police said Salame was suffering from asthma and paralysis. Her parents informed that she could not bear the pain and took the extreme step. A case of an accidental death has been registered.
In another incident, Agaspeen John, 23, hanged himself at his railway quarter residence, Ajni, on Tuesday night. Police informed that John was jobless. His parents told police that he had an affair with a woman since last year. However, the parents were clueless about the reason behind the suicide. Ajni police have registered a case.
One dead, two injured in accident
A 35-year-old man lost his life while his two friends were seriously injured after a speeding four-wheeler hit their bicycles at Power House Square, Old Bhandara Road, on Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Tejram Yadav, a resident of Bharat Nagar. His two friends, Gopal Yadav, a resident of Dharam Nagar, Kalamna, and Toranlal Yadav, 55, of Vinayakpur, are undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
Police told that the trio was heading to Bharat Nagar when a speeding four-wheeler hit Yadav’s cycle and ran over him. Later, in a bid to flee, the accused driver hit other two.
Lakadganj police rushed the injured to hospital and shifted the body for post mortem at Mayo hospital.
Man succumbs to accident injuries
Ramasre Jaiswal, 49, a resident of Swarup Nagar, succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital 19 days after meeting with an accident. On June 7, Jaiswal’s scooter had skidded at Gate no. 1 of Ordnance factory, Wadi, when he was going home from the factory. The doctors declared him dead on June 26. Wadi police have registered accidental death.
Two threatened for money
Two complaints of extortion were reported in separate incidents.
In the first complaint, Rajesh Ghodeswar, 42, a resident of Parseoni told Ganeshpeth police that he had reached city on Tuesday night and was waiting at Jadhav Square when a drunk man, in his thirties, started demanding money from him. Ghodeswar was thrashed badly when he refused.
Another complaint was filed at Lakadganj police station by Purushottam Yadav, 52, a resident of Chitnis Park. Police said Yadav, a property dealer, had sold 2 acres to Manish Kore and had received cash Rs40 lakh. However, due to some reasons Yadav failed to hand over the property documents to Kore. Kore demanded Yadav to pay back Rs40 lakh but the latter failed to do so.
On Tuesday evening, six people intercepted Yadav on Central Avenue and threatened him to pay Rs50 lakh to Kore.
