Veteran communications executive Dan Berger has been named head of corporate communications for DreamWorks Animation.
Chief executive Jeffrey Katzenberg announced Berger’s appointment as the toon-maker’s chief spokesman Wednesday. He replaces Chip Sullivan, who in April announced his move to NBC Entertainment, where he became the top communications executive for the network and Universal Television.
Berger had most recently been at 21st Century Fox, where he worked for nine years, most recently as a senior VP of corporate communications. Before that, from 2009 to 2013, he served as a VP for communications at News Corp. and in corporate communications for Fox’s digital unit.
From 2002 to 2006, Berger worked in communications at Yahoo after years at several New York public relations outfits.
DreamWorks CEO Katzenberg called Berger “an accomplished communications executive who has spent the past 15 years working in every corner of the media business.” Berger added in the announcement that he considered DreamWorks Animation “not only one of the entertainment industry’s most forward-thinking and innovative companies, but also one of the world’s most trusted and beloved corporate brands.”
Berger begins work at the Glendale-based company on July 27.
