Eighth seed Vijay Sundar Prashanth came back from a set down to defeat Miliaan Niesten of the Netherlands 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the pre-quarterfinals of the $15,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament at Middelburg, Holland, on Wednesday.

Having dropped serve twice at 0-3 in the second set, after losing the first owing to a break of serve in the seventh game, the 28-year-old Indian, ranked 398 in the world, was staring at defeat.

He, however, stepped up his game and reeled off five games on the trot to turn the match around. In the decider also,

Sri Vaishnavi advances in doubles

In the $10,000 ITF women’s event in Egypt, Sri Vaishnavi Peddi Reddy, in partnership with Yana Sizikova of Russia, made the doubles quarterfinals with a 3-6, 6-1, 10-5 victory over Anastasia Bukhanko and Ekaterina Prozorokkova of Russia.
