TORONTO — Hanley Ramirez is back in the Red Sox lineup on Wednesday, starting in left field against the Blue Jays in the Canada Day matinee. But catcher Ryan Hanigan is not.

Weather-related travel delays resulted in Hanigan arriving at the Rogers Centre just after 11 a.m. after he got stuck in Philadelphia. It is expected he will be activated off the disabled list on Thursday.

A few other Sox updates:

The Red Sox start a three-game series with the Yankees that day with the All-Star break to follow. Delaying Pedroia’s return until July 17 in Anaheim would buy him seven extra days to recover.

■ Shane Victorino is expected to play for Double A Portland today, as the right fielder or designated hitter, depending on the field conditions. He could return to the Sox as soon as Friday in Boston.

■ Daniel Nava, who has been out since May 26 with a left thumb strain, will start a rehab assignment with Triple A Pawtucket on Thursday. That can last up to 20 days.

■ Just a day off for Brock Holt. He has played every inning of every game since June 5 and is 4 of his last 32 (.125). “Some things have kind of piled up on him a little bit,” manager John Farrell said.

Holt had a collision with Toronto second baseman Devon Travis in the seventh inning on Tuesday. He also fouled some balls off his legs in Tampa over the weekend.

“He’s in need of a recovery day,” Farrell said.

Deven Marrero is starting his first game.

■ Farrell said the Sox would “probably” stay away from righthanded reliever Alexi Ogando, who has appeared in two of the last three games and got four outs on Tuesday. Koji Uehara, who has appeared in three consecutive games, is a possibility but the Sox would prefer to give him a day off, too. Uehara has not worked four days in a row all season.

“I’m not going to say he’s not available but at the same time we’d like to do everything we can to stay away,” Farrell said.
