Music aficionados of the city had a great time when renowned musicians from Kolkata as well as the national circuit performed at Nazrul Mancha recently.
The concert was titled Standing with Nepal, a fundraiser for the quake victims. “Giving away goods and money is a noble thing. But being able to do so with the help of one’s own art is something more noble,” stated Tanmoy Bose.
The show was headlined by Violin Brothers — Debshankar Roy and Jyotishankar Roy. Pt Ajoy Chakraborty mesmerized the audience with a prayer for the well-being of the citizens of Nepal. Next performance was by Kavita Krishnamurthy, who sang Pyaar hua chupke se. Tanmoy Bose along with his group Taal Tantra accompanied Anusheh Anadil and Zinia Deb on some folk numbers. Babul Supriyo sang Shedin ta bhulini and Hum tum. Later, Akriti Kakar sang Hero and Saturday, Saturday! “I am happy that Nepal is making great progress,” said Aakriti. As the evening drew to a close, Ustad Rashid Khan performed along with Jyoti Goho on harmonium and Tanmoy Bose on tabla. Pt Shivkumar Sharma collaborated with Shubhankar Banerjee.
