FIR reveals Ashwin Rao was Krishna Rao

BENGALURU: The mystery of Krishna Rao finally solved on Wednesday with Lokayukta police filing FIR against Lokayukta Bhaskar Rao’s son Ashwin Rao and others and mentioning prime accused name as Ashwin Rao alias Krishna Rao. The single page FIR filed by Lokayukta SP-Sonia Narang was filed in the morning and registered by afternoon tells that Ashwin Rao introduced himself as Krishna Rao to those who would drop at Lokayukta office after receiving extortion calls.Other accused names will be added later during the course of investigation, Lokayukta police said.
Lokayukta sources said that FIR was filed on the basis of complaint made by PWD engineer Krishnamurthy N, who revealed the alleged corruption racket running well within Lokayukta office.
Ashwin Rao and others have been booked under section 8 of Prevention of Corruption Act (Taking gratification, in order, by corrupt or illegal means, to influence public servant), IPC 384 (Extortion), 419 (intention to cheat) and 420 (cheating) read with 120-B (criminal conspiracy).
According to legal cell of Lokayukta, Special Investigating Team shall use the FIR as first step in their investigation. “SIT will take details from loka officials who are currently investigating into the matter,” sources said.
